The children have really enjoyed learning about the celebration of Chinese New Year. They have been able to listen to the story and understood that each year was named after an animal from the race. They re-enacted the race by having a running race outside in their groups! Each child had a sticker with a picture of one of the animals and they had to see who could get to the finishing line first! As well as the story and the race, the children tasted Chinese food. They had to talk about which foods they liked and disliked. During continuous provision the children continued their enthusiasm for dragon dancing, once they had made a dragon head with Mrs McQuire they made their way around the playground! They were inspired to have a go at dancing independently too, using pom-poms as a prop.
