Market Drayton Infant & Nursery School

‘An excellent, happy school, where we enjoy learning’

Personal, Social and Emotional Development

Our teachers in the Early Years help us with personal, social and emotional development (PSED). We have to learn to get on with others and we really like making new friends. It is good to understand and talk about feelings, learn about 'right' and 'wrong' and using skills, like taking turns.

To help us develop confidence and independence we always think about our school values and make sure we are good at collaborating, respectful and positive. Our teachers are always planning well-being days to help us think about ourselves and other people.

We know that brushing out teeth is part of being healthy. In Nursery and Reception we are taking part in the Brilliant Brushers programme and our parents across the whole school have been given information about the importance of teeth brushing. This is one of the websites that the children use.

Sometimes we find it difficult to sleep. We found this out in our wellbeing questionnaires. At school we have been learning more about how to help us sleep better because we know this will help us to learn more. Our parents have been learning about this too. Click to find out more information about sleep.

If you came into one of my lessons, you would see...

- keeping ourselves safe

- talking about friendships

- talking about feelings and emotions

- thinking about well-being

- learning how to keep ourselves healthy

We use CLANG in school to focus on keeping our minds healthy and supporting each other.
