Market Drayton Infant & Nursery School

‘An excellent, happy school, where we enjoy learning’

In Year 2 the children continue to enjoy learning maths through practical exploration, interesting contexts and real-life problem solving activities.

Practical maths activities

The Year 2 children were challenged to invent and make their own maths game based on the theme of Marvellous Market Drayton. There was a huge variety in the types of games produced and all the children had great fun playing each other's games.

The games were judged by Governor, Matt Hughes, with three winners in each class proudly having their work displayed for all to see.

Maths problem solving

We use equipment to help us solve and reason about our maths work.
Our matchstick problem was brilliant, we had to persevere lots too. Some of us quizzed our parents at home too.
This shape problem was great for discussing properties. Some of us collaborated to help our peers too.

Using Mathletics

We love Mathletics! We use it at home and school to recap and embed our learning.
