Market Drayton Infant & Nursery School

‘An excellent, happy school, where we enjoy learning’

PE and Sport Premium

Please read the information below which gives details of our PE and Sport Premium Grant and how we allocate the funding.

In April 2013 the government announced funding for physical education (PE) and school sport.  The aim of the funding is to improve the quality and breadth of PE and sport provision.

How the money is spent is up to the school to decide in order to improve the quality and breadth of PE and sport provision, including increasing participation in PE and sport so that all pupils develop healthier lifestyles.  At Market Drayton Infants the funding is being used in a range of ways.

Market Drayton Infants School has the following aims for PE and School Sport:

  1. High quality provision of PE within school, with staff that have a secure subject knowledge and are confident in delivering PE
  2. Increase participation rates in a range of sports
  3. An increase in competitive school sports
  4. A physical education programme that is fully inclusive
  5. A range of provisional and alternative sporting activities
  6. Partnership work on PE with other schools and local partners
  7. Greater awareness of pupils about healthy lifestyles, including the dangers of obesity, smoking and other activities that undermine pupils' physical well-being
